SESSION RECAPS
From the Journals of Sebastienne Goeth

Flipping through the dense notebooks, there doesn’t seem to be a “Grand Muster” of Sebastienne’s henchmen, where they affirm their goals with her.  There are plenty of individual oaths sworn, and promises made by her deadly band, but nothing sworn together.  Some examples:

From grota, 6995:

The opulent splendor of the Sanghire estates agrees with me too much.  By day I eat sweets and murder snow hares that the groundskeeper’s beaters flush straight into my arrows.  By night I enjoy Denis lavishing his attentions on me.  His intensity can be charming, but he’s driven away my other dalliances, even the handmaid we shared.  Last night, when he rose from the bed to wash, he said “I will possess you, heart and soul.”

The devotion, and the finances it opens to me, are useful, but the obsession is less so.  Some distance will be required.  This life is adding too much softness to me anyway.

From las, 6995:

And that finished it.  We were both covered with blood, but only a little was ours.  This bunch won’t be advancing their secret heir against the Child Dynast.

“Lady,” Mejten prostrated himself in the gore.  For a minute I didn’t recognize him.  I was somewhere else, some other battlefield, with some other comrade.  It’s the third time that’s happened.  “Lady.  Bless you with one thousand gifts, my family is avenged.  I will serve you from horizon to horizon, in this life and the next.”

That had escaped me in the heat of the moment as well:  to him it had been about his family, not my scheme.

From stok, 6996 (with the eerie echo of your own words included):

“I swear, her mind will be laid bare to you.”  I have heard many promises, unkept (“Don’t you worry, as long as I’m alive I’ll always take care of you.”  “I will do everything within my skill to restore your mother to health.”) and kept, (“We’ll beat them today, tomorrow, and for the rest of this war.”) and few struck me like that.  The certainty, the knowledge that it would/has already come to pass renewed my resolve.

Why did he say it now?  Was my resolve not firm before?  After what we did in Dosslack, it will be a generation before Polto recovers.  Did this show him I mean to do what I’ve said?

Her own oaths are rare, and this one seems the most significant, situated among entries from grota, 6997, though it may be misplaced, from its content:

With Eiiwen’s strategies, we’re finally able to face soldati vanguard in the open field.  This Bloodlord will be nursing a bloody nose if all goes well.  I light this candle before the new year, as I’ve done each year.  Did I make this promise?  It’s getting hard to remember, but perhaps I always did, now.

I will tear this world from its foundations and hurl it down, and I will see my father once again.
