This story is true
Any real smith can tell you It happened right there In those mountains Father Cloud was always roaming Here and there There and here He was never home Mother Mountain she got mad Wouldn’t stand for it “You rain on every woman And leave me dry!” Maybe he did! She got so mad She blocked his path And he was stuck with her They fought a lot He bellowed and blew Called her every foul name It really hurt Each word left a mark Under her skin they grew Green and hot with bile They pained her all the time Children know what’s going on When parents fight They see it in the earth Poisoned with grudges “Stop it you two!” Red and blue they said it Mother Mountain and Father Cloud They had to hear their children “Why did we fight?” Father Cloud pretended to forget “Rain!” Two can pretend that So Father Cloud rained He rained so much on her Maybe that’s how ptak were born But probably not The rain made hot hurts Boil and smoke And wash right out Down the mountainside Red watched them go “Good riddance!” they said Blue saw them come “We don’t want them!” But they were there Nothing could be done Good thing blue is clever So they knew what to do The green grudges burned Hot in their forges Strong in their shields Heavy in their mauls They remembered the pain It’s all they know You have to be careful They want to cause more So that’s how it happened How green grudges formed Real smiths still use them This story is true |
